The mission of ISACA is to recognize the profession of Information Systems(IS) audit and control in providing leadership to the community of professionals in the fields of information technology.
Its action is to establish and ensure sound management of the risk posed by information technology for public and governmental organizations. It achieves its mission through the promulgation of standards, accepted practices, and training and certification of professionals.
Its primary objective is to promote the training of individuals for the improvement and development of their potential as auditor and/or management consultant in the areas of audit , control and security of information systems .
Today, ISACA’s constituency — more than 110,000 strong worldwide — is characterized by its diversity. Constituents live and work in more than 180 countries and cover a variety of professional IT-related positions—to name just a few, IS auditor, consultant, educator, IS security professional, regulator, chief information officer and internal auditor. Its Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification is recognized globally and has been earned by more than 103,000 professionals since inception.
More specifically, the aims of the Association are :
- promote training and contribute to increased knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of auditing skills and control of information systems;
- encourage exchanges between members on the audit and control aspects of approaches, techniques targeting problem solving;
- establish a network of communication sufficient to allow members to remain at the forefront audit and control of information systems;
- inform managers , auditors, and IT professionals of the importance of establishing adequate and appropriate controls to ensure effective organizations and the effective use of resources in information systems.
